Theater in an Intimate Space
I grew up on theater presented in intimate settings. Small houses with fewer than 100 seats. It’s still my favorite way to see a play — in theaters that feel like you can reach out and touch the actors. Theaters in which actors can be heard — effortlessly — in the last row of the house.
That’s the kind of theater you’ll experience at each of the plays presented by The Jamaica Players. We’re afforded the opportunity to present theater in an intimate space because of the generosity of Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. — where we are in residence.
Greg Mays
“ I am a huge theater buff, so the idea of more theater here in Jamaica is a wonderful thing!”
Kirlyn Joseph
“ I was born and raised here! It’s taken a long time, but Jamaica seems to be coming into its own. It’s become a cultural hub, so more theater just makes sense!”
